I know you're fine
God, I studied all the lines
Of the dress, you know, your lover bought you
And these drinks turn into maps
Of places we will never go
But for once, don't get sentimental on me
"Ah, shit. It's gonna be one of those nights," Ryan Adams mutters into the microphone before he delivers this unreleased gem. When he starts singing, "The wind, the wind!" I sort of feel a breeze blowing through my bones, or maybe I feel like my heart has been stomped on and kicked to the curb. I'm not sure where Adams' head was at when he performed this song in the UK in 2006 (you can hear the entire show here). Wherever it was, I'd like to think he's in a much better place right now.
Starting next month -- June 7th, to be exact -- Adams returns to the stage, making a handful of solo appearances. If you're in Europe, you're in luck. Here in the U.S., we're just going to have to wait a little bit longer.
