Jam of the Day | Dr. Dog – That Old Black Hole

Aaaaaand, we’re back! After a brief blogging hiatus to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year, Speakers in Code has returned. And it’s our birthday! Yay, us. We’ve been doing the blogging thang, in this form, on this particular website, for two full years now.

Two years ago, Dr. Dog’s Shame, Shame quickly became one of my favorite albums of 2010. The 11-track myriad of symphonic pop was instantly recognizable and easy on the ears. Fast forward to 2012, and the Philadelphia band is set to release its next effort, Be The Void, and what will be a distinct departre from sounds past.

Primal in nature, Be The Void, is true rock ‘n’ roll with abandon and without hindering forethought. Today’s JOTD, the lead single from the new album, “That Old Black Hole,” is a testament to this new attitude, this pointed decision to make fewer decisions and let the music play itself.

Be The Void is out February 7th on ANTI-.
