Jam of the Day | TEEN – Carolina

Word of the day kids – syncopation.  It’s defined as music involving a variety of rhythms, which are in some ways unexpected, making a tune off-beat. More simply, syncopation is a general term for “a disturbance or interruption of the regular flow of rhythm.” A “placement of rhythmic stresses or accents where they wouldn’t normally occur.”

TEEN’s “Carolina” is a shining example of how to best use syncopation to create a dreamlike ambiance in a song. Lush, melodic, and simply put — beautiful, “Carolina” is the perfect teaser of great things to come when TEEN’s forthcoming EP, out May 28th, on Carpark Records.
