Jam of the Day | Torres – Mother Earth Father God

It’s been a minute since I’ve complained about insanely talented young songwriters, and their ability to make me feel like an aging piece of talentless shit. And while it’s a REALLY good time to do that right now, given the subject of this post,  I’m generally in a very positive mood these days, so I’m just going to save it and say a few words about our Jam of the Day, “Mother Earth Father God.”

It IS worth stating, however that Torres singer/songwriter Mackenzie Scott is only 22 — not because age matters, but because there is a massively…mature?…feel to this song.  Brooding in ways, its beauty really comes into form as the song progresses, seemingly gaining momentum like a couple dancing dramatically on a parquet reception hall floor.

Check it out below – and make sure to catch her set at the 2013 Hopscotch Music Festival in lovely downtown Raleigh, NC.  We’ll be covering it for you once again this year!
