So some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a caging thing
Just a killer come to call from some awful dream
A funny thing happened the other day while I cranked Phosphorescent's Muchacho on vinyl.
Perhaps it was the fact that I had only previously listened to "Ride On / Right On" with shitty headphones, or maybe it was the fact that my body had become stiff during the Polar Vortex and I needed a jolt (read: my butt had been glued to the couch) . . . but dammit, the THINGS that song made my subwoofer do! Mind you, "Ride On / Right On" comes right after the undeniably wonderful and sad-bastard-ish "Song For Zula" on Muchacho, which makes me think Phosphorescent had this planned -- get 'em down, and then lift them up. So, screw listening to Dark Side of the Moon while watching Wizard of Oz for amazement; just crank up "Ride On / Right On," and let the good times roll.
As for the rest of Muchacho, us fine folks in St. Louis will get to hear it live come January 27th as Phosphorescent will be performing w/ Caveman at The Firebird ($16 -18). We have a pair of tickets to give away to the show, but before we get to those details, let's have a listen to the aforementioned "Song For Zula" one more time, as its words cut to the bone on any sound system you currently may have access to.
Now -- here's how you enter the contest to win a pair of tickets to Phosphorescent w/ Caveman on Monday, January 27th at The Firebird in St. Louis.
Please do only ONE of the following:
1. Simply copy and paste this into a tweet: I entered to win 2 tickets to @Phosphorescent + @CaveManBand on 1/27 at @firebirdstl on @speakersincode.
2. Leave us a message on our Facebook page. (Leaving a comment on our original post is fine.)
3. Send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can say anything.
The contest will run through January 22nd at 5PM CST, and we'll randomly pick and contact the winner later that evening (if you enter through FB, we'll announce your name on our FB page). Good luck!
