Jam of the Day | Rogue Band of Youth – Daedalus

The best thing about living in the Triangle is that you can never get tired of local music, because there’s always new local music; Rogue Band of Youth, who just released their self-titled debut LP, are one of the newest on the scene, and one of my current favorites. “Daedalus”, a cautionary tale of the Greek inventor and his son Icarus, is full of fuzzed out folk guitars and counterpointed vocals, two and a half minutes of the kind of spare beauty and hopeless / hopeful themes that run straight through the album. It’s beautiful and spacey and I listened to it, again, last night, with the windows open and a cool breeze blowing through my apartment. It’s perfect for that.

You can downloaded the whole record for the bargain price of $8 at Rogue Band of Youth’s Bandcamp page, and catch them on tour in the Southeast with dates available on the sidebar once you’ve bought the record.

They’ll celebrate the release officially at the Nightlight in Chapel Hill tomorrow (that’s Saturday) night, and I plan to be there. You could be, too.
