Delta Spirit backstage at LouFest | Photo by Rachel Waters |
"I don't have anything to do tomorrow," Samuel T. Herring exclaimed early on in Future Islands' afternoon set at LouFest on Saturday.
The same can't be said for the 17,000 who attended day one of St. Louis' premeire music festival, now in its fifth year. They'll have plenty to do today as LouFest concludes with its biggest headliner, OutKast, who will be joined by Grouplove, Portugal. The Man, Matt & Kim, Kopecky Family Band, and more. Gates open at 11:30, and single-day passes will be sold at the festival's box office.
Day one of LouFest was ruled by crowds swelling to Arctic Monkeys, Cake, and The 1975, but it was Delta Spirit, Those Darlins, Alanna Royale, and San Fermin who rocked the morning and afternoon.
Delta Spirit's set was especially energetic, as they played songs from their entire catalog, including their upcoming release, Into The Wide. Frontman Matthew Vasquez proved to be a loose cannon on stage, moving from guitar to keys, violently moving his body in between. A spectacular performance.
