Girl In a Coma, a fiery three-piece punk outfit from San Antonio, is built entirely around the startling range and enormous power of frontwoman Nina Diaz’s voice, backed by her sister Phanie on relentless drums and Jenn Alva on thumping, grooving bass. All three are showcased here, in Girl In a Coma’s cover of Martha and the Vandellas’ 1964 hit, “Heatwave.”
They give it their own rowdy take, with Nina’s voice soaring and growling over the music, and what better way to survive the ongoing heat?
