Jam of the Day | Lord Huron – Time to Run

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets’ towers into a dark primeval forest […] where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you. – Edward Abbey

It’s easy to see why Edward Abbey is called the “Thoreau of the American West.” Since camping in Death Valley myself, I’ve been enraptured by the desert, primed for my next chance to explore it. Equally enchanting is Lord Huron‘s music. Composed of thick layers of magic and mystery, each song has seared itself in my memory. “Time to Run” – off their forthcoming debut LP Lonesome Dreams – is no different. It continues where tracks like “Mighty” and “The Stranger” leave off: The singer seeks truth and love on a quest into personally uncharted territory (“No time to rest / Gonna find me a life there, way out West”).

Its calypso beats will put a bounce in every step while you bolt along to the tempo of a chugging locomotive. May your heart race and imagination run wild as you embark on this aural adventure with Lord Huron.
