Ryan Adams and his band, The Shining, performed at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on Sunday in support of Adams’ latest self-titled album.
Adams, in rare comedic form, played a hilarious improv tune about popcorn, which featured an “abrupt ending to the song.” He also told a story about waking up on his tour bus at a truck stop where he bought snacks, including mini-donuts, the “ones that look like they are rolled in Stove Top stuffing.”
Highlights of the show were a gorgeous “Oh My Sweet Carolina,” a mid-tempo “New York, New York,” the opening “Gimme Something Good,” “Dear Chicago,” and the set-closing “I See Monsters.”
