Jam of the Day | Chapel Club – The Shore

All the buzz surrounding Chapel Club seems to revolve around predictions the band is going to be enormous, probably encouraged by lies circulating that they were given sacks of cash by their record label in advance of recording a single note. Yet the more we hear from Chapel Club, the more they seem to be establishing a sound that is far too lush and challenging to be made for mass consumption.

Much like an incoming storm, “The Shore” begins with a gentle lapping of waves and a chill sense of foreboding before a distant thunder drumbeat propels singer Lewis Bowman through dubious tales of wasted youth. From this torpid pool of wistful inertia, it builds to a swirling squall of a crescendo. Where the shore meets ocean, these still waters run deep, rise high, and rock hard. Very hard.
