One of my favorite ways to cut through the massive and eclectic lineup of Raleigh’s Hopscotch Music Festival is, quite frankly, just to pick out bands whose names I like. Last Saturday, wanting a place to sit down and have a drink and check on Auburn’s football team trying to lose to Jacksonville State, I snagged Laney Jones & the Spirits out of the day party lineup and my dude and I headed down the block to Tir Na Nog to check it out. Best case scenario at Hopscotch, you find something great. Worst case scenario, you chug your beer and move on.
Tir Na Nog last Saturday was a best case scenario. Our drinks weren’t even on the bar when Laney Jones started singing and we turned to each other and agreed we were staying for the whole damn set.
