Video | Née – Pretty Girls

“You know I probably broke one hundred hearts by now…”

I’ve recently been going through an MC Lyte phase, so I’ll just go ahead and say it: Née cold rocks a party. I mean, Spinner compared the Saint Louis foursome (Kristin Dennis, David Beeman, Mic Boshans, and Lex Herbert) to LCD Soundsystem. I’ve seen the band live plenty of times, but lead singer Dennis’ firecracker ferocity and fun-loving fervor never cease to amaze me.

And this lady is a flippin’ go getter. For as much creativity as she boasts, she has oodles of business savvy (yes, I think that’s how one technically measures it) to match. Put it all together and whaddya get? An official music video for our former Jam of the Day, “Pretty Girls.”

To produce the video, Dennis had her hand in everything from directing and choreography to costume design and…confetti making. Née teamed up with First Punch Film Production to execute the band’s vision.

The end result is unapologetically girly: a fantasy land of dancing paper dolls, mint nail polish, glitter, and cute boys. And totally dance worthy, so don those boogie shoes before watching. And – hey! – be careful, or your heart might be next.
