The Gaslight Anthem just finished up recording their upcoming fifth full-length LP, and last Thursday in Carrboro, played … a set that didn’t include any of the new tunes. And that’s actually one of my favorite things about Gaslight, really — they’ve never been a band that puts new songs in their live act before a record comes out. Every new album is a surprise to me, and every show is great regardless of set list — they play hard, they bring as much to songs from their first record as they do to songs from their latest.

It was, as it always is, a great set — and even without the new songs, made me really excited for whatever the fifth album turns out to be.
